Bridezilla!

Every Friday morning after I check my email I sign out and on the front of the MSN page is a feature called "The Week in Pictures". I always like to take a look throught the ten or so pictures they post from around the world and every once in a while one comes along that is pretty much amazing, today was that day.
And down the aisle they come!

I realize that I'm probably the only person who actually listens to podcasts, but here's one to listen to.

Keane has an Under The Iron Sea podcast with clips from their new album and the stories behind the songs. Check it out, it's good. Listen to episode 2 for the story behind Is It Any Wonder and if you want to hear classic Keane sound try episode 4.

Bushism

"Now we talked to Joan Hanover. She and her husband, George, were visiting with us. They are near retirement--retiring--in the process of retiring, meaning they're very smart, active, capable people who are retirement age and are retiring."

Say retire again.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!

England SquadThe 2006 World Cup started this weekend and things got off to a roaring start. Annalise and I have decided to dedicate ourselves to The Mother Country for this competition of skill and sweet moves, and Steve has devoted his life to watching every game (pretty sweet). Therefore, we watched England v. Paraguay on Saturday.

They kept referring to England as "The Three Lions" and none of us knew what that meant exactly. According to Wikipedia, a source I have decided I quote far too often, The Three Lions on the England coat of arms comes from Richard I also known as Richard the Lionhearted.

"In 1198, his great seal bore a single rampant lion, but his shield was "Gules three lions passant guardant," the three lions reportedly representing England, Normandy, and Aquitaine. Same arms continued for John, Henry III, Edward I, and Edward II."

While I do enjoy that explanation (however little sense it made), I have decided to do a three lion redesign. In honor of the World Cup and England, and hot football players the world over I have designed a new Three Lions coat of arms:

Moments later: Window rolls down and car hop approaches

Jackie: (Looks at splits, then gaze goes to picture on menu board) "Those are tiny"

Annalise told me last night that The Killers were back in the studio so I decided to investigate. I found this article in which front man Brandon Flowers says their new stuff will make you "feel dirty." Not exactly sure what that means but I like it, and I can't wait to be drentched in filth.

ps. When I googled The Killers in google images it came up with everything from OJ Simpson to Hamburger Helper...amazing.

It's Go Time

NBA Finals

Admiral Horatio Nelson

The last couple times I visited the Trafalgar Square webcam courtesy of Banalise's blog, I have noticed the building of scaffolding around Nelson's Column.Nelson's ColumnQuick history lesson courtesy of Wikipedia:

The column was built between 1840 and 1843 to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson's death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The 18ft statue of Nelson stands on top of a 183 ft granite column. The statue faces south, towards the Palace of Westminster and along Pall Mall, where his ships are represented on the top of each flagpole. The top of the Corinthian column is decorated with bronze acanthus leaves cast from British cannons. The square pedestal is decorated with four bronze panels, cast from captured French guns, depicting Nelson's four great victories.Admiral Horatio Nelson
Pretty cool. If you want to learn more about the restoration go here.

I found this......I'm a little scared

Yes, that's Nash.

The cackle of a man who's ankle should be broken.

Nash and BellThey are not supposed to look like this!!!!!!!!!! They are supposed to be on the floor in a heap of misery crying like babies to their mamas!

"I don't know what the HELL happened with the MAVS. It may be a combination of me not watching the entire game and Jenny physically being in the city where the game took place. I can only hope that total humiliation will rev our engines like never before and we will demoralize the Suns for two straight games. Sheesh. The game tomorrow night shal be redemption!"

I Heart Devin

Devin Harris
Last night was a rough night, but it's gotta be said, Devin Harris played an amazing game. Sometimes he's on and sometimes he's off, but last night he was ON FIRE! Congrats Devin, I salute you.

Here's my take on Game 1. Remember Game 1 of the Spurs/Mavs series. We were off our game, maybe even a little too used to playing Memphis, a series devoid of true entertainment value. The rhythm was off the speed was messed up, things didn't go well. BUT we bounced back.

Give us another practice and Avery yelling some sweet nothings in everyone's ears and we're right back in the game.

One more thing. I heard the Dallas Morning News told fans to boo Nash, but he's Steve Nash a class act former Mav, big momba jomba, quick foot, long haired, MVP basketball playin' man. You can't boo Nash! After hearing about how sad Finley was when the Mavs fans booed him I can't bare to think that we are inflicting that kind of pain on dear little Nashy.

KeaneIf anyone is interested there is a new Keane single on iTunes "Is It Any Wonder" from their upcoming album Under The Iron Sea. It has a very different sound from their debut, more electric than usual, but it's good.

Interesting bit of useless trivia.

Daniel Powter
I've been wanting the Daniel Powter cd for a while and have been slowly buying the songs one by one on iTunes. I am now the owner of the entire album and decided to do a little research about the man.

In reality my only goal was to find a single picture of him without some sort of hat on. When I started looking I found picture after picture with hat head. This got me thinking...what's wrong with his head? Why is he covering this up? Is he balding? Is he already bald? Does he have one of those Mikhail Gorbachev red splat marks on his melon?

The answer to all these questions is no. According to Wikipedia, when Daniel Powter was little he was hit by a car and left with a large scar on his head. He wears a hat to cover the scar, and has over 40 beanies in his wardrobe.

I'm sure all of you already knew this but I had to crack the code and inform everyone of my new found bit of useless trivia.

Enjoy.
